Since that time Community developer's have come together and progress CobraCFW to now the current version 8.01 and more about the changes since 7.0 can be seen here along with the c urrent source codefor 8.01. The original (anonymous) developer then updated Cobra to version 7.0 and dropped the USB Requirementin the process and injected for the first time the payload directly into a CFW, and thus CobraUSB died and CobraCFW was born. However with the security garbage to protect the dongle and some undocumented features and elements it was not until several months after that release we seen another this time from the lead developer (whom was not affiliated with the company and team any longer) cleaned up the source and provided plenty of documentation.
The COBRA payload v1.00-6.00 belong to the Cobra team behind the CobraUSB device ( v6.0 and lower required a USB device from Cobra Team), after sometime of being shelved by the company, the scene begged for this to be Open Sourced and it was from the company behind the device with the Source Code of v6.0.
